Lot 2352
Uncertain, circa 2nd-early 3rd centuries AD. Military Diploma (Bronze, 49x62 mm, 20.03 g). Fragmentary, bent and cracked, otherwise, very fine.
We read the highly fragmentary inscription as follows: Obverse: [...]NTI[...] [...]ETREC̣[...] [...]ẠESTRỌṂAEṆ[...] [...]AVG AD M[...] Reverse: [...]EP̣Ị TE [...]ṆQVE [...]AETO [...]NORVM [...] The fragmentary line [...] AVG AD M[ is probably part of a closing formula, with AD M possibly restored as ad missionem ('for discharge'). On the reverse, AETO could refer to service in a praetorian unit, provided it is not part of a personal name. The preceding QVE supports this interpretation, as it likely belongs to a coordinated list
